The Boss Step-Up Power Module is a clean, integrated power solution developed specifically for the Boss Core Mount for Starlink Mini. It converts a suitable 12 V or 24 V vehicle, canopy, caravan or auxiliary battery supply into a regulated 30 V output for the Starlink Mini.

Based on Boss Aluminium’s real-world experience, 30 V provides the optimum setup for reliable vehicle-mounted operation and matches the output voltage of the standard Starlink power supply. The module is mounted neatly within the Core Mount system, creating a compact installation without relying on a separate inverter or the standard 240 V Starlink power supply.

Designed and manufactured in Australia, and suitable for a new installation or as a later upgrade to a compatible Core Mount.

Important Note

Module only. The Boss Core Mount and the Starlink Mini device are not included.

This is the power-conversion module only — it does not include active cooling fans or thermostatic temperature control. The Boss Thermal Protection Power Module is designed specifically for the Boss Pro Lockable Mount and is not available for the Core Mount.

Key Benefits

  • Converts a suitable 12 V or 24 V DC supply into a regulated 30 V output
  • Provides the optimum operating voltage for a vehicle-mounted Starlink Mini
  • Helps maintain consistent power as battery or vehicle voltage changes
  • Helps minimise voltage drop along the Starlink-side power lead
  • Reduces current through the 30 V Starlink-side cable compared with operating that cable at 12 V
  • Helps reduce dropouts or restarts caused by insufficient voltage reaching the Mini
  • Supports direct DC operation without a separate 240 V inverter
  • Anderson plug connection for a clean and simple installation
  • Designed specifically for the Boss Core Mount for Starlink Mini
  • Suitable for a new installation or as a later upgrade

Ideal For

  • Four-wheel drives and touring vehicles
  • Canopies and service bodies
  • Caravans and camper trailers
  • Trade and construction vehicles
  • Fleet and commercial applications
  • Emergency and first responder vehicles
  • Remote worksites and field operations
  • Auxiliary battery and off-grid electrical systems

Why Run the Starlink Mini at 30 Volts?

Although the Starlink Mini accepts a 12–48 V DC input, it requires a similar amount of power regardless of the supply voltage — so as voltage decreases, the current required increases. At approximately 60 W, the Starlink Mini may require around 5 A at 12 V, 2.5 A at 24 V or 2 A at 30 V.

Higher current places additional load on cables, plugs, sockets and electrical connections. This is particularly important with cigarette-lighter-style plugs and sockets, which may not be suitable for sustained higher-current operation — undersized cable, poor-quality plugs or loose connections can generate excessive heat and may damage wiring, plugs or sockets.

By converting the supply into a regulated 30 V output close to the mount, the Boss Step-Up Power Module helps reduce current and voltage drop on the Starlink-side power lead while providing consistent voltage to the Starlink Mini. This helps reduce unexpected dropouts or restarts caused by insufficient voltage reaching the unit.
